GREEN BAY, Wisconsin — If you had plans on Wednesday, June 10, check them again. Severe weather is rolling into the Fox Valley region, and it is forcing organizers across multiple cities to cancel or postpone events that thousands of residents look forward to each week.
Here is a full rundown of what is off, what is postponed, and what you need to know to stay safe.
The Broadway Farmers Market Is Canceled Wednesday
The popular Farmers Market on Broadway will not be held on Wednesday, June 10, due to the risk of storms during market hours.
The good news — it will be back next week.
The next scheduled Broadway Farmers Market is June 17, running from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mark your calendar and plan accordingly.
Tornado Sirens Are Silent Wednesday — But Listen Carefully
This is the most important update of the day.
Brown County Emergency Management has canceled its scheduled noon test of tornado sirens. The reason is simple and critical — they do not want anyone to confuse a test with a real warning during active severe weather.
Shawano County has also canceled its siren test for the same reason.
Here is what you must remember: if a siren sounds on Wednesday, it is not a test. It means a Tornado Warning is in effect. Drop what you are doing and seek shelter immediately.
Appleton, Menasha, and Neenah Events Called Off
The cancellations are spreading across the region.
St. James United Methodist Church in Appleton has canceled its 5:30 p.m. dinner church service scheduled for Wednesday evening.
Future Neenah has postponed Wednesday night’s Summer Kickoff Concert featuring The Glam Band. The decision was made due to unsafe weather conditions. A new date has not yet been announced, so keep an eye on Future Neenah’s channels for updates.
Menasha Parks and Recreation Postpones Multiple Events
Menasha residents are seeing the biggest stretch of cancellations.
The City Carnival has been postponed and will now take place on June 24. Barker Farm Tennis Lessons scheduled for Wednesday are also canceled.
Additionally, the Menasha High School alumni banquet, originally planned for Wednesday at Bridgewood in Neenah, has been moved to Thursday, June 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the same location.
Stay Alert Throughout the Day
Severe weather does not always follow a schedule. Conditions can shift quickly, and what looks clear in the morning may turn dangerous by afternoon or evening.
Residents across Brown, Shawano, and surrounding counties should monitor local weather alerts, keep phones charged, and know where to shelter if conditions deteriorate fast.
Do not rely on hearing a siren as your only warning — sign up for local emergency alerts if you have not already.
