A devastating crash in North Philadelphia on Monday night has claimed the lives of two young people and left two others in critical condition, police confirmed.
The heartbreaking collision happened around 8 p.m. in the city’s Germantown neighborhood, at the intersection of Godfrey Street and 20th Street.
What Happened?
According to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small, a Nissan carrying at least four people was traveling west on Godfrey Street when it collided with a Honda heading south on 20th Street.
The impact of the crash was so severe that the Nissan spun out of control, struck a parked box truck, and finally came to rest nearly a block away from the initial collision site.
When first responders arrived, the scene was chaotic.
“There were three victims laying on Godfrey,” officials said while describing the aftermath.
Victims and Injuries
Emergency crews found three individuals from the Nissan lying on the roadway.
- One juvenile victim was transported to the hospital but later pronounced dead.
- Two others — ages 16 and 20 — remain in critical condition.
- A fourth passenger, described as a teenager, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Honda, a 72-year-old woman, was also taken to the hospital. She is currently listed in stable condition.
Investigation Underway
Authorities have launched a full investigation into the cause of the crash. Officials confirmed that multiple surveillance camera videos from the area have already been obtained and will be reviewed as part of the ongoing probe.
Police have not yet released the identities of the victims as they work to notify family members.

As investigators continue to piece together what happened, families and neighbors are left grieving an unimaginable loss.
Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
