Three men have been arrested in connection with the 2023 fatal shooting of a 16-year-old girl in Queens, authorities announced Wednesday.
The victim, Claudia Quatey, was shot in the head on May 10, 2023, on Lucas Street near 121st Avenue in the St. Albans neighborhood. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Police identified one of the suspects as 21-year-old Zaire Rolley. He, along with a 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, has been charged with murder, conspiracy, and criminal possession of a weapon.
Authorities have not publicly released the names of the two younger suspects. At the time of the shooting, both would have been minors.
Investigators previously stated that Quatey had been outside an elementary school with friends when a dispute broke out involving another group. According to police, she was seated in the back of a car when a stray bullet struck her. Officials indicated that she was not believed to have been the intended target.
Additional details regarding the arrests have not yet been disclosed as the investigation continues.
