Hit-and-Run in Johnson County Leaves Family Seeking Answers After Man Killed Near Home

A quiet stretch of road in Johnson County has become the center of grief and unanswered questions after a man was struck and killed while walking home Tuesday night.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety, the victim—identified as Frank Bravo—was hit around 8:15 p.m. along County Road 920, just a block away from his residence. Investigators believe the vehicle involved was either an SUV or a pickup truck, but no further identifying details have been released.

For Bravo’s family, the pain is compounded by the circumstances.

“It was inhumane,” said his daughter Crystal Bravo. “He was left there, and we have to live with that.”

Bravo had been returning from a nearby Texaco station, a place he visited daily and where he was known to lend a helping hand. What should have been a routine walk turned into a tragic loss.

Family members describe him as caring, dependable, and deeply devoted to his children. “We never doubted his love,” said his daughter Mary Campos, recalling simple moments spent outdoors together.

Neighbors say Bravo was a familiar presence in the area. Some, like Billy Barnett, often offered him rides and now regret not being there that night.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. For the family, it’s not just about finding the driver—it’s about closure.

“We all make mistakes,” Campos said. “But someone needs to take responsibility.”
