A devastating early morning crash in east Franklin County has claimed the life of a Columbus woman, leaving the community in shock.
What Happened: On Thursday morning, just before 6 a.m., a two-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of Havens Corners and North Waggoner roads in Jefferson Township. A 2015 Honda Pilot heading north on North Waggoner Road collided with a 2015 Acura TLX at the intersection.
The Devastating Aftermath: The impact sent both vehicles off the northwest side of the intersection. The Acura struck a power pole, snapping it in half — and the pole came crashing down directly onto the Honda, with live electrical wires still attached.
The Victim: The Franklin County Coroner’s Office has identified the Honda driver as Lakesha Marbury, 43, a local woman who was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:55 a.m. The driver of the Acura was rushed to Mount Carmel East hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.
Why This Matters: This tragic accident raises serious concerns about intersection safety in Jefferson Township — and what could have been done to prevent it.
