3 Men Arrested in Home Burglary, K9 Helps Capture Suspect After Backyard Chase

Burbank, California — A quiet neighborhood in Burbank turned tense Sunday evening after three men were caught allegedly breaking into a home, leading to a swift police response, a neighborhood search, and one suspect being bitten by a police K9.

According to the Burbank Police Department, the incident happened around 7:20 p.m. on the 2700 block of Scott Road. The situation unfolded when a vigilant neighbor noticed suspicious activity—several men dressed in black entering a backyard—and quickly alerted authorities. A vehicle parked across the street also raised concerns and is believed to be connected to the suspects.

Police said officers arrived within minutes, but by then, two of the suspects had already fled the home. What followed was a coordinated search effort. Officers quickly set up a perimeter around the area to prevent escape, while additional units were called in to assist.

A police helicopter circled overhead as a K9 unit joined the search on the ground. The two fleeing suspects were eventually found hiding in the backyard of a nearby home on Jolley Drive.

One of the men allegedly refused to follow police commands during the arrest, prompting the K9 officer to intervene. The suspect was bitten by the police dog and then taken into custody. Authorities said his injuries were not life-threatening. The second suspect complied with officers and was arrested without incident.

Meanwhile, a third individual believed to be the getaway driver was located and arrested shortly afterward.

Investigators later determined that the suspects had forced their way into the home through a rear window. Inside, the residence had been ransacked, but in a surprising turn, homeowners reported that nothing appeared to have been stolen.

Police identified the suspects as 34-year-old Alan Rodriguez-Pulido, 20-year-old Wilmar Castelblanco-Robles, and 24-year-old Cristian Rios-Cuadros, all residents of Azusa. All three are facing residential burglary charges, pending review by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities are now looking into whether the trio may be connected to other recent burglaries in the region. The case comes amid growing concerns over similar crimes in nearby areas, including Studio City, where mobile surveillance cameras were recently installed following a spike in break-ins across the San Fernando Valley.

Police are urging anyone with additional information about the incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
