Man Sentenced to 7 Years After Running Over Woman Twice in Stolen Car Case

Waco, Texas: A 26-year-old Waco man has been sentenced to seven years in prison after authorities said he stole a woman’s vehicle, ran over her twice, and later tried to flee from police during a dramatic incident in September 2025.

According to court records, Corrian “Cory” Evans accepted a plea agreement Thursday in Waco’s 54th State District Court. Evans pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery and evading arrest with a vehicle.

Associate Judge Rob Swanton approved the agreement and sentenced Evans to concurrent seven-year prison terms for both charges. Officials said Evans must serve at least half of his sentence — approximately three and a half years — before becoming eligible for parole consideration.

The incident happened shortly before 6 p.m. in the 4000 block of Bosque Boulevard in Waco. Investigators said a woman told police Evans pulled her out of her vehicle before driving away and running over her twice while escaping the scene.

Roughly an hour later, officers received reports that the stolen vehicle had been spotted near the AutoNation dealership on North Valley Mills Drive. Police quickly responded and surrounded the area.

Authorities said officers repeatedly ordered Evans to exit the vehicle, but he refused to comply. During the standoff, officers fired at the vehicle after Evans allegedly ignored commands. Police later deployed tear gas into the car when he still refused to surrender.

Investigators said Evans then attempted to flee again, driving over tire-deflation spikes that damaged all four tires of the stolen vehicle. He was eventually taken into custody at the scene.

Court documents state the victim later identified Evans as the person who stole her vehicle and ran over her during the robbery.

Despite the violent nature of the incident, police said the woman did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

The indictment alleged Evans caused bodily injury by striking the victim with the vehicle’s door and driving over her body during the incident.

The case has now officially concluded with Evans beginning his prison sentence following Thursday’s court hearing.
