A Saturday evening drive turned into a frightening ordeal for a Columbia woman after her vehicle veered off a rural Callaway County road and slammed into a ditch, a culvert, and then a tree.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the 32-year-old woman was behind the wheel of a Ford Windstar around 6 p.m. on Route WW, just east of County Road 259, when she lost control of the vehicle. The car drifted off the right side of the roadway before striking the ditch and culvert — and the impact didn’t stop there. The vehicle continued into a tree, bringing the ride to a jarring halt.
Callaway County EMS responded to the scene and transported the woman to University Hospital, where she was treated for moderate injuries. Authorities have not released her name at this time.
It is still unclear what caused the vehicle to leave the road. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is handling the investigation, and no further details have been released as of yet.
