The fatal crash happened at the intersection of Highway 20/26 and Wagner Road. According to investigators, the 19-year-old was driving a Subaru Outback and had come to a stop at the stop sign on Wagner Road before attempting to cross or enter the highway. As he proceeded into the intersection, his vehicle was struck by an oncoming semi-truck traveling along Highway 20/26.

Idaho State Police responded to the scene shortly after the crash was reported. Emergency crews arrived quickly and attempted lifesaving efforts, but the driver of the Subaru succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Officials have not yet released the name of the victim, pending notification of family members.

The driver of the semi-truck remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Authorities have not indicated whether any additional injuries were reported. At this time, it remains unclear if speed, road conditions, or other contributing factors played a role in the collision.

Highway 20/26 is known as a heavily traveled corridor in Canyon County, frequently used by both commercial and passenger vehicles. Intersections along the route can present challenges, particularly when vehicles are attempting to cross multiple lanes of traffic. Investigators are working to determine the exact sequence of events leading up to the crash.

Traffic in the area was impacted for several hours as emergency responders secured the scene and cleared debris from the roadway. Motorists were advised to use alternate routes while the investigation and cleanup were underway.

Fatal crashes involving semi-trucks often result in severe consequences due to the significant size and weight difference between commercial vehicles and passenger cars. Law enforcement officials routinely remind drivers to use extra caution when approaching intersections, especially on high-speed highways.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing. Idaho State Police are continuing to gather evidence, examine vehicle damage, and review any available witness statements. Authorities have not announced whether charges or citations will be issued.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has information that could assist investigators is encouraged to contact Idaho State Police.

As the community processes this tragic loss, officials are urging drivers to remain alert, obey traffic signals, and exercise patience on the roads to help prevent further tragedies.
