Colorado Springs, Colorado – Police are searching for a masked suspect who allegedly robbed a local business Thursday night, making off with cash, lottery scratch tickets and a cordless landline phone. The incident occurred in the 1800 block of North Circle Drive and remains under active investigation.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), officers responded to reports of a robbery at approximately 9:10 p.m. near the intersection of Circle Drive and Constitution Avenue. Authorities say the suspect entered the store dressed entirely in black clothing and wearing a face covering before confronting an employee.
Armed Robbery Reported Late Thursday Night
Police said the suspect brandished a firearm and pointed it directly at the store clerk during the confrontation. Under threat, the clerk complied with the suspect’s demands. The individual reportedly removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the register along with several lottery scratch tickets.
Investigators also confirmed that the suspect took the store’s cordless landline phone before fleeing the scene. Law enforcement officials believe the phone may have been taken to delay the clerk’s ability to immediately contact authorities.
No physical injuries were reported during the incident, though police emphasized the seriousness of the crime given the presence of a weapon and the risk posed to employees and customers.
Suspect Description and Escape
Authorities described the suspect as a man dressed in all black clothing and wearing a mask, which concealed his identity. After taking the stolen items, he reportedly fled the store on foot, heading north from the location.
Despite an immediate response by officers and a search of the surrounding area, the suspect was not located. Police have not yet released further identifying details, and it remains unclear whether surveillance footage from the store or nearby businesses has provided additional leads.
Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and review any available video recordings that could help identify the individual responsible.
Ongoing Investigation
The Colorado Springs Police Department is urging anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the robbery to come forward with information. Residents and business owners near North Circle Drive are encouraged to check their security cameras for any suspicious activity that may have occurred before or after 9:10 p.m.
Armed robberies remain a priority for local law enforcement, particularly those involving firearms. Officials remind business owners to review safety protocols with employees, including how to respond during a robbery and the importance of contacting authorities as soon as it is safe to do so.
Police have not yet indicated whether similar incidents have occurred recently in the area, and no arrests have been announced as of this time.
