A quiet Ohio community is mourning an unimaginable loss after a devastating early-morning house fire claimed the lives of a mother and her five young children.
The tragic fire was reported at approximately 6:40 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, in Clarksville, Ohio. Despite emergency response efforts, six members of the same family did not survive.
Mother and Children Identified
The victims have been identified as Brooke Gordon and her five children:
- Zayden, 10
- Hudson, 8
- Ashton, 6
- Bostyn, 2
- Tomlyn, 9 months
The children ranged in age from 9 months to 10 years old, making the loss especially heartbreaking for the community.
One adult male survived the fire. He has been identified as Tommy Allen Jr., Gordon’s fiancé and the father of the children. He was transported to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries and remains under medical care.
“The Loss Is Unimaginable”
A fundraiser organized by family friend Pamela Hauck describes the tragedy as devastating for the Clarksville community.
“The loss is unimaginable, and the heartbreak is felt deeply by everyone who knew and loved this family,” the description reads.
According to the fundraiser, Allen Jr. now faces not only physical recovery from serious injuries but also the overwhelming grief of losing his entire family. Funds raised will go toward funeral expenses for Gordon and the children, as well as helping him secure housing and cover essential needs during his recovery.
As of the latest update, more than $57,000 has been raised toward a $90,000 goal.
Hauck, who was close to the family, shared emotional memories of Brooke and the children, describing them as a loving, joyful presence in her life.
“They’ve been to birthday parties at my house. They swam in my pool. They are my two grandchildren’s only cousins,” she said, adding that Brooke was an exceptional mother devoted to her children.
Firefighters Injured Amid Intense Conditions
The blaze was so severe that eight firefighters were injured while responding to the scene. Officials explained that the scale of the fire and the structural damage to the home made rescue efforts extremely difficult.
Due to the intensity of the flames and the instability of the structure, responders were reportedly unable to safely reach certain areas of the house.
Schools and Community Grieving Together
Three of the children were students in the local school district. In a statement, school officials acknowledged how deeply the tragedy has affected classmates, teachers, and the broader community.
Schools described themselves as closely connected environments where loss is felt collectively, and support resources are being made available to students and staff during this difficult time.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities have confirmed that an investigation into the cause and origin of the fire is currently underway. Officials are working to determine how the blaze started.
As the investigation continues, the Clarksville community remains united in grief — and in support of the surviving father facing an unthinkable road ahead.
The tragedy has left a lasting mark on the small town, where neighbors, friends, and loved ones are holding onto memories of a devoted mother and her five young children whose lives were cut tragically short.
