A deadly stabbing inside a South Boston apartment has resulted in a manslaughter charge against a 24-year-old local woman, according to authorities.
The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. Friday on Old Colony Avenue in the city’s South Boston neighborhood. Officers with the Boston Police Department responded to reports of a stabbing and arrived to find a 26-year-old man suffering from serious knife wounds inside an apartment.
Emergency medical personnel transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for life-threatening injuries. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries the following day. Officials have not yet publicly released his identity, pending notification of next of kin.
Police arrested 24-year-old South Boston resident Gisselle Pascual later Friday evening. She was initially charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. After the victim’s death on Saturday, prosecutors upgraded the charge to manslaughter, a decision authorities said was made based on the change in the victim’s condition and the outcome of the incident.
Pascual is expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court. Additional details regarding the events leading up to the stabbing have not been made public, as the investigation remains active.
The Boston Police Homicide Unit is leading the investigation. Authorities are continuing to gather evidence and interview potential witnesses to determine the circumstances surrounding the altercation.
Investigators are urging anyone with information to come forward. Individuals can contact the homicide unit directly or provide tips anonymously through CrimeStoppers. Officials emphasize that even small details could assist in clarifying what happened.
In response to the incident, Boston police have also made confidential emotional support services available to community members who may be affected. Residents experiencing stress or trauma related to the event can access counseling resources through a dedicated hotline staffed by trained professionals.
South Boston, known for its strong community ties, family neighborhoods, and annual St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, has seen significant residential growth in recent years. Incidents of violent crime remain under close scrutiny by city officials and law enforcement, who continue to encourage community cooperation to maintain public safety.
Further updates are expected as court proceedings begin and investigators release additional information.
