A disturbing discovery in Phoenix has led to a murder arrest after authorities found a man’s body hidden inside a car trunk late last week.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers were first alerted on March 28 about a possible homicide near 24th Street and Van Buren. Acting on that information, police located a vehicle tied to the case near 25th and Adams streets. Inside the trunk, they discovered the body of 44-year-old Derek Standridge.
Investigators believe Standridge was killed two days earlier, on March 26, inside a hotel room. The circumstances leading up to the incident remain under investigation, but authorities have indicated that the killing was not random.
On April 1, police arrested 26-year-old Charlie Carldwell in connection with the case. He is now facing a murder charge. Officials have stated that, based on current findings, no other suspects are believed to be involved.
The case has raised concerns in the local community, particularly due to the nature of how the body was concealed. Authorities are continuing to gather evidence and piece together the events surrounding the incident.
Police have not yet released further details about the motive but say updates will follow as the investigation progresses.
