LEE COUNTY, Ala. — Two people were critically injured Friday night after a serious crash along Lee Road 379, according to emergency officials.
The incident occurred around 8:50 p.m. on April 3, when a vehicle veered off the roadway just south of Lee Road 334 and struck a tree. Authorities say the impact left both occupants trapped inside the vehicle, requiring an extensive rescue effort.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Beulah Fire and Rescue, Smiths Station Fire and Rescue, and East Alabama Medical Center Emergency Medical Services.
Fire crews worked to extricate the victims from the wreckage. According to Smiths Station Fire Chief Blake Green, both individuals were removed from the vehicle and transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. One patient was taken by Smiths Station Fire and Rescue’s Medic One unit, while the other was transported by East Alabama Medical Center EMS.
Officials temporarily shut down Lee Road 379 as first responders secured the scene and cleared debris. The roadway was later reopened once emergency operations were complete.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
