Enfield Tragedy: Stepfather Charged After 12-Year-Old Girl Found Dead, Community in Shock

A quiet neighborhood in Enfield has been shaken after a 12-year-old girl was found unresponsive inside her home, leading to serious criminal charges against her stepfather.

Police responded to the home on the morning of March 18, where the child was discovered in her bedroom. Despite efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities later reported concerning physical findings, prompting a deeper investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

The girl’s stepfather, 39-year-old Anthony Federline, has been arrested and charged with first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a child. Investigators say forensic testing revealed the presence of male DNA, which was later linked to him through comparison samples.

According to officials, the medical examiner has not yet determined the exact cause of death and is awaiting toxicology results. The case remains under active investigation as authorities work to understand what happened in the hours leading up to the child’s death.

Federline had been working as a school bus driver in the local district but was terminated immediately following his arrest. School officials expressed concern for students and families, offering counseling support to those affected.

He is currently being held on a $1 million bond and is expected to appear in Hartford Superior Court.

Local officials described the case as deeply disturbing, emphasizing the importance of community support and mental health resources during this difficult time.
