A second suspect has been taken into custody following the tragic drive-by shooting in Brooklyn that left a 7-month-old baby girl dead, authorities confirmed.
According to the New York City Police Department, 18-year-old Matthew Rodriguez was arrested in Pennsylvania with assistance from the United States Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force. He is believed to have been driving the moped used in the shooting and had been on the run since Wednesday.
The incident unfolded near Moore and Humboldt streets in Williamsburg, where gunfire erupted into a crowd that included families and children. The infant, Kaori Patterson-Moore, was struck while sitting in her stroller. In a desperate moment, her parents rushed into a nearby store seeking safety, only to discover she had been fatally wounded.
Police say the suspected gunman, 21-year-old Amuri Greene, was apprehended shortly after the shooting. He faces multiple serious charges, including murder and attempted murder.
Investigators believe the baby was not the intended target, making the loss even more devastating for the family and community. Loved ones described Kaori as joyful and full of life, a child whose future was taken far too soon.
Authorities continue to urge anyone with information to come forward as the investigation moves ahead.
