Residents across the Philadelphia–Camden region woke up to a sharp chill Thursday morning, with frost coating rooftops, cars, and lawns. Temperatures hovered in the low 30s, dipping into the upper 20s in some suburban areas, creating early travel concerns for commuters.
According to the National Weather Service, a Freeze Warning remains in effect until 9 a.m. across southeastern Pennsylvania and parts of New Jersey. Areas including Berks, Delaware, Chester, Montgomery, Bucks, and Philadelphia counties are seeing temperatures as low as 28°F. The cold snap may damage early spring plants and leave untreated roads, bridges, and highways like I-95 and the Schuylkill Expressway slightly slick during the morning commute.
Conditions improve quickly as the day progresses. Sunshine will help temperatures rebound to around 61°F by the afternoon, drying roads and restoring normal travel conditions across Center City, Camden, and nearby suburbs.
The real shift arrives Friday, bringing a noticeable warm-up. Clear skies and sunshine are expected to push temperatures close to 70°F, giving the region a much-needed taste of spring. Outdoor spaces, parks, and city streets are likely to see increased activity as residents take advantage of the milder weather.
Looking ahead, the weekend remains pleasant, with highs in the mid-to-upper 60s under mostly sunny skies. Early next week, even warmer air moves in, with temperatures climbing into the 80s.
