A police officer with the DeKalb County Police Department was injured after being shot during an active response in the Glenwood Road and Shamrock Drive area, authorities said.
The incident occurred while DeKalb officers were assisting Cobb County Police Department with an ongoing situation. During the operation, a suspect identified as Tremagne McCluskey allegedly opened fire, striking the officer.
Law enforcement officials quickly secured the scene and launched a coordinated effort to locate the suspect. McCluskey was later apprehended without further incident and is now in police custody.
Authorities have confirmed that he is facing multiple serious charges, including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Police emphasized that the suspect is no longer a threat to the community.
The injured officer was immediately transported for medical treatment. Officials reported that the officer is in stable condition and is expected to recover, with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
