A late-night police pursuit in Buckhead turned dangerous on Thursday when it ended in a crash at one of the area’s busiest intersections, leaving multiple people injured.
According to Georgia State Patrol, troopers initially attempted to stop a Range Rover along Peachtree Road. The driver refused to pull over, triggering a high-speed chase through the neighborhood.
Officials say the suspect ran a red light at the intersection of Piedmont Road and Peachtree Road, crashing into a civilian vehicle and abruptly ending the pursuit. The impact caused significant disruption in the area, which is typically busy even during evening hours.
After the crash, the suspect reportedly fled on foot. Troopers pursued and eventually apprehended the individual after deploying a taser.
During the foot chase, two troopers sustained minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The suspect and the civilian driver were also injured, though authorities confirmed their injuries were not life-threatening. The civilian driver declined hospital transport, while the suspect was taken for medical clearance before being booked.
Emergency crews responded quickly, and the intersection remained closed for several hours as investigators processed the scene and cleared damaged vehicles.
Authorities have not yet released the suspect’s identity or confirmed the charges. The investigation is ongoing as officials continue to review the incident.
