A pleasant start to Friday is giving many a good reason to step outside and enjoy the mild spring air. Temperatures are expected to climb into the mid-70s, creating comfortable conditions for outdoor plans through much of the day.
However, the calm weather won’t last into the evening. Rain chances are set to increase gradually during the afternoon, with showers first developing in areas north of Pittsburgh, including Butler and Aliquippa. As the day progresses, the system will shift southward, reaching neighborhoods like the North Hills and Carnegie during the evening commute.
While the rain is not expected to be severe, a few brief downpours and even an isolated rumble of thunder could occur. Most locations will see light rainfall totals, generally around a quarter of an inch, which should limit the risk of any major disruptions.
If you have plans later in the day, it may be a good idea to keep an umbrella handy and allow for extra travel time, especially during peak hours.
Looking ahead, the weekend offers a much more favorable outlook. Conditions are expected to turn dry, with Sunday shaping up to be the warmer of the two days. The mild trend is also likely to continue into next week, bringing consistent warmth and more opportunities to enjoy time outdoors.
