Teen Charged in Mother’s Fatal Shooting After Family Dispute, Court Hears Disturbing Details

Cheyenne, Wyoming – A tragic and deeply unsettling case has emerged from Cheyenne, Wyoming, where a 14-year-old boy is accused of fatally shooting his mother inside their home. The incident, which took place on March 7, has now moved into the courtroom, revealing troubling claims from both the defense and prosecution.

According to authorities, the teenager, identified as Havoc Leone, has been charged as an adult with first-degree murder in the death of his 41-year-old mother, Theresa McIntosh. The case has drawn attention due to the young age of the accused and the disturbing circumstances surrounding the incident.

What Happened

Investigators say the shooting occurred during a heated argument inside the family’s home. The dispute reportedly began over a tablet that Leone was accused of stealing from one of his mother’s work clients. During the confrontation, McIntosh allegedly asked her son for the password to the device.

Leone then went to his room, where he was expected to retrieve a notebook containing the password. However, prosecutors allege that he instead accessed a 9mm handgun, which had reportedly been taken from his mother’s vehicle days earlier.

According to court documents, Leone returned and threw the notebook toward his mother, who was sitting on the floor and facing away from him. Moments later, he allegedly fired a single fatal shot to the back of her head.

Courtroom Claims and Conflicting Narratives

During a recent court appearance in Laramie County District Court, Leone pleaded not guilty. His defense attorneys presented a narrative suggesting a long history of emotional and verbal abuse at home.

They claimed that the teenager had endured repeated insults throughout his childhood and that the situation escalated on the day of the shooting when his mother allegedly used a derogatory slur toward him. According to the defense, that moment triggered an emotional breaking point.

Prosecutors, however, strongly disputed this characterization. They argued that the act was premeditated, pointing to statements Leone allegedly made during interviews with detectives. Authorities believe the teen may have been planning the act for days, particularly after tensions rose over school performance and the earlier firearm incident.

The prosecution also stated that the argument on the day of the shooting included accusations of theft and further verbal confrontation before the fatal moment.

Legal Status and What Comes Next

The judge denied a request from the defense to reduce the teenager’s bail, which remains set at $500,000. Leone will continue to be held in custody as the case proceeds.

He is scheduled to stand trial beginning August 10, where both sides are expected to present further evidence and testimony.

A Case Raising Difficult Questions

This case has left the local community shaken, not only because of the loss of life but also due to the complex and troubling family dynamics being described in court. It highlights difficult questions around juvenile crime, mental health, and domestic environments.

As the legal process continues, authorities have indicated that more details may emerge, offering a clearer understanding of what led to this tragic incident.
