Months After 73-Year-Old Found Dead in Greenville Apartment, Suspect Finally Arrested — Details Inside

A Duplin County man has been arrested and charged with murder months after a 73-year-old man was found dead inside his Greenville apartment — and the details of the case are deeply disturbing.

It all started on December 3, when Greenville police responded to a medical emergency call at 1301 Fairfax Avenue. When officers arrived, they discovered 73-year-old Danny Foster dead inside his apartment. Investigators believe he had died the day before anyone called for help.

What police uncovered next made the case even more alarming. According to warrants, the suspect did not just take Foster’s life — he also stole his wallet, keys, and cellphone before leaving the scene.

Authorities identified 37-year-old Christopher Cayton of Duplin County as the suspect. Cayton has now been charged with murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection to Foster’s death.

As of today, Cayton is being held at the Pitt County Detention Center with no bond — meaning he will remain behind bars until his court date.

The investigation is still ongoing, and several key details about the case have yet to be released by authorities…
