An 18-year-old Indianapolis man is now behind bars after allegedly leading Indiana State Police on a dangerous high-speed chase along Interstate 69 near Bloomington Saturday evening — reaching speeds of up to 130 mph.
It all started when an ISP trooper spotted two vehicles flying down I-69 near the Third Street interchange, both clocked at 90 mph in a 65 mph zone. The vehicles were also weaving aggressively through traffic, putting other drivers at serious risk.
When the trooper activated his emergency lights, one vehicle pulled over immediately. The other — a 2015 Mercedes C300 driven by the Indianapolis teen — did the opposite. Instead of stopping, he allegedly floored it, pushing speeds past 100 mph, then climbing all the way to 130 mph.
The chase put innocent drivers on I-69 in serious danger. Authorities were ultimately able to bring the vehicle to a stop and take the 18-year-old into custody.
What happened next — including the charges filed and what was found in the vehicle — may surprise you.
