Waldoboro, Maine – A quiet stretch of road in Waldoboro has become the focus of an active investigation after authorities confirmed that a missing Thomaston man was found dead earlier this month.
According to the Maine State Police, 64-year-old Darryl Sanborn was last seen on April 5 in Waldoboro. Concerns about his whereabouts led the Waldoboro Police Department to request assistance from the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit Central on April 7 as part of a missing person case.
The situation took a tragic turn on April 17, when a passerby discovered a body along a dirt road off Wagner Bridge Road in Waldoboro. Authorities responded to the scene and transported the remains to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for further examination.
Officials later confirmed the identity of the deceased as Sanborn.
At this stage, investigators say the cause and manner of death are still pending. While the discovery has raised concerns in the Midcoast community, authorities have stated there is currently no known threat to the public.
The case remains active, and law enforcement officials continue to gather information to determine exactly what happened in the days leading up to Sanborn’s death.
Residents in the area are being urged to stay aware and report any relevant information that could assist investigators as the search for answers continues.
