A Minnesota woman is now facing murder charges after police say she killed another woman over a $50 debt — then fled the scene, not knowing a witness would hand her over to police.
What Happened?
On May 9, Henrietta Childress, 42 — known by her nickname “Hershey” — was at a Minneapolis apartment with 32-year-old Aisha Farah Yussuf and two male witnesses.
The two women began arguing over money. According to police, the dispute was over just $50.
As the argument grew heated, one witness stepped into the bathroom. That’s when he heard someone shout — “Hershey, what are you doing?” — followed by gunshots.
She Came Back With a Gun
A second witness told police he saw Childress walk into a bedroom mid-argument and return with a pistol.
He said he tried to stop her — but she fired multiple shots at Yussuf anyway.
Yussuf was rushed to a nearby hospital but did not survive her injuries.
Caught on Camera
After the shooting, Childress and the second man fled the apartment quickly. Surveillance footage from the building caught a woman matching Childress’ description leaving “in a hurry” right after the shooting.
The man who left with her later spoke to police — and told them everything. He said Childress had threatened him before he managed to get away from her.
Denial Didn’t Last Long
When police caught up with Childress, she denied any knowledge of the shooting.
But when investigators showed her the surveillance footage, she admitted to being at the apartment — while still denying involvement in Yussuf’s death.
Where Things Stand
Childress has been charged with second-degree murder and is being held at Hennepin County Jail on a $1 million bond.
Her next court date is set for June 11.
