A 17-Year-Old Stabbed Two People on a Sunday Morning in Columbus — One Didn't Make It Home

It was supposed to be just another quiet Sunday morning on Glen Echo Drive. But at 6:57 a.m. on May 24, the peace of a Columbus North Side neighborhood was shattered when a 17-year-old boy allegedly stabbed two adults — leaving one dead and a community in shock.

Columbus police responded to the 2600 block of Glen Echo Drive after reports of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they found two victims on the ground, both suffering from multiple stab wounds. Emergency medics rushed both to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Sadly, the fight to save one of them wasn’t enough. One victim was pronounced dead at 7:58 a.m. — just an hour after the attack. The second victim, according to police, is expected to survive.

The teenage suspect was taken into custody at the scene and now faces charges of murder and felonious assault. Because he is a minor, authorities have not released his name.

The victims’ identities are also being withheld as police work to notify their families — a painful process that reminds us there are real people behind every crime report. Someone’s son, brother, or father didn’t come home that morning.

Detectives are still working to piece together what led to the violence. No motive has been released.
