A 38-year-old man drove down a county road Thursday morning and never made it home

SPRINGVILLE, Alabama — A 38-year-old man lost his life Thursday morning after his pickup truck left a county road and slammed into a tree in St. Clair County.

Alabama State Troopers identified the victim Friday as Chance Mitchell Lawrence Taylor of Springville.

The crash occurred at 8:35 a.m. on County Road 32 near Clayton Road, approximately five miles west of Springville.

What Troopers Say Happened: Senior Trooper Gregory Corble said Taylor was behind the wheel of a Chevrolet S-10 when the truck veered off the road and struck a tree.

Emergency responders transported Taylor to St. Vincent’s East hospital.

He was pronounced dead there.

Investigation Still Open: Alabama State Troopers are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the single-vehicle crash.

No further details about what caused the truck to leave the road have been released at this time.

A Road That Locals Know Well: County Road 32 is a familiar stretch for residents in and around Springville.
