In a tragic case that has shaken the community of Milwaukee, a jury in Wisconsin has found 23-year-old Tremaine Jones guilty of multiple charges, including first-degree intentional homicide, in the killing of Kendall Corder.
According to the Milwaukee Police Department, the incident began on June 26, 2025, with a fight between two women near North 25th Street and West Garfield Avenue. What started as a personal dispute quickly escalated when a man intervened with a gun, triggering a chain of events that turned deadly.
Prosecutors stated that Jones was called to the scene and arrived armed with a short-barreled rifle. Witness footage showed him walking through the area, shouting and firing shots. By the time officers responded, the situation had already spiraled out of control.
When officers approached, Jones opened fire, discharging multiple rounds. Officer Corder, 32, was critically injured and later died at the hospital. His partner survived after receiving treatment.
During the trial, a recorded jail call revealed Jones expressing fear and claiming he did not realize he was shooting at police officers. However, prosecutors argued that intent did not change the severity of his actions.
The verdict has brought a measure of closure, but the loss continues to weigh heavily on the department and the officer’s family. Jones now faces a life sentence, with sentencing scheduled for June 12.
