Detroit, Michigan — A wet and potentially slow Friday morning commute is expected across Southeast Michigan as a stronger wave of rain moves in overnight.
According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, scattered light showers may begin Thursday, with daytime highs ranging from the low 60s to near 70°F. However, conditions are set to deteriorate late Thursday night as a more organized rain system spreads across the region.
By early Friday, steady rainfall is expected across Metro Detroit, Ann Arbor, Flint, and Port Huron. Most areas could receive around half an inch of rain, with isolated locations approaching 1 inch. The heaviest rainfall is likely during the early morning hours, increasing the chances of water pooling on roads and reduced visibility.
Major roadways including I-75, I-94, and I-96 may experience slick conditions, especially during heavier bursts of rain. Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time and remain cautious during peak commute hours.
Weather conditions are expected to improve by Saturday, bringing drier air and cooler temperatures in the upper 40s to mid-50s. A gradual warmup follows into Sunday, with highs returning to the 60s and even low 70s, along with another chance of showers.
Residents should stay alert for any additional weather updates or advisories as the system approaches.
