EAST PEORIA, Illinois — If you have been meaning to make one last trip to Red Robin, you are running out of time.
Signs have appeared on the doors of the 314 W. Washington St. location announcing that the restaurant will close for good on May 24.
“We have loved serving the East Peoria community and thank you for your business,” the sign reads.
For many in central Illinois, this is not just the loss of a burger spot. It is the loss of the only Red Robin left in the entire region.
A Community Staple Since 2013
The East Peoria restaurant opened in 2013 inside the Levee District and quickly became a go-to for families, date nights, and after-game meals.
Over more than a decade, it outlasted other Red Robin closures across central Illinois — until now.
With this location shutting down, the closest Red Robin to Peoria will be the Davenport, Iowa location — a drive of over an hour and a half.
Locations in Oswego and Edwardsville, Illinois, are each more than two hours away.
Part of a Bigger Trend
The East Peoria closure is not happening in isolation.
In a February earnings call, Red Robin CEO and President David Pace confirmed that the company expects to shut down around 20 locations across the country this year.
The chain has been working through financial challenges, and trimming underperforming locations is part of its broader strategy to stabilize the business.
The Journal Star reached out to Red Robin for comment but had not received a response at the time of publishing.
What This Means for Central Illinois
For residents in and around Peoria, the closure means the nearest Red Robin is now a road trip, not a dinner option.
The Levee District location had been a consistent draw for the area, and its departure leaves a visible gap — both in the shopping center and in the dining options available to local families.
If you want to say goodbye with one last basket of bottomless fries, May 24 is your final chance.
