Grant County, Indiana – Armed Police Pursuit at 100+ MPH Ends in Crash, Two Arrested

A tense and fast-moving police chase across multiple counties in Indiana ended Monday morning with a crash, two arrests, and the recovery of a loaded firearm, according to authorities.

The incident began around 8:50 a.m. on April 20 in Marion, where deputies from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of individuals allegedly displaying a weapon and chasing another person in a gray Chevrolet near East 38th Street.

What Happened

Officials say a deputy quickly located the suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop near East 38th Street and State Road 400 East. While the vehicle initially pulled over, the situation escalated within seconds. As the deputy exited the patrol car, the suspects suddenly fled, triggering a high-speed pursuit.

High-Speed Chase Across Counties

The chase stretched across Grant County into Delaware County and later into Madison County, eventually reaching Interstate 69. Authorities reported speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour at several points, raising serious safety concerns for other drivers on the road.

Multiple law enforcement agencies joined the pursuit as it continued southbound for nearly 47 miles.

Crash Brings Pursuit to an End

The chase came to a stop near mile marker 218 when the suspect vehicle collided with a trailer being towed by another vehicle. The impact disabled the car, allowing officers to take both occupants into custody at the scene without further incident.

Weapon Recovered

During the arrest, officers recovered a loaded Century Arms Mini Draco from the vehicle. Authorities say the presence of the weapon significantly increased the risk level during the pursuit.

Suspects and Charges

Officials identified the suspects as Cameron Allen Perry, 26, of Indianapolis, and Dontrell Devote Cole, 24, of Franklin.

Both are facing multiple preliminary charges, including:

  • Felony weapons violations
  • Intimidation
  • Resisting law enforcement
  • Criminal recklessness

Authorities emphasized that these charges are allegations, and both individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

No Injuries Reported

Despite the dangerous speeds and multi-county pursuit, officials confirmed that no injuries were reported during the incident, including those involved in the crash.

Ongoing Investigation

Law enforcement agencies continue to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the initial complaint and the events leading up to the pursuit. More details may be released as the case develops.
