A minor parking lot scrape ended in a shooting — and a little girl running alone through the streets begging strangers for help.
A Minnesota man is behind bars on $2 million bail after he allegedly chased down a mother and her 5-year-old daughter following a fender bender and shot the woman in the neck.
What happened
The mother was leaving a prom send-off party in Columbia Heights — a city just north of Minneapolis — with her young daughter when her SUV grazed a parked car on the way out.
Moments later, Cordaryle Frank-Allen Frost, 38, and his wife Cynthia Victoria Frost, 37, got in their vehicle and sped after her.
The chase
About a block away, the Frosts allegedly forced the mother to pull over using a maneuver similar to a police PIT stop. They got out and threatened to “beat her,” authorities say.
She drove away. They followed. Then came a gunshot.
The aftermath
The bullet hit the mother in the neck, causing a spinal cord injury. She lost control of the SUV, which crossed the road and came to rest in a grassy area near 53rd Avenue NE and University Avenue NE in Fridley.
Her 5-year-old daughter climbed out of the vehicle and ran through the street, asking anyone she could find for help.
Doctors later removed bullet fragments from the mother’s neck during surgery. The full extent of her injuries has not been confirmed.
Arrests
Both Cordaryle and Cynthia Frost were arrested Monday on charges of first-degree assault and drive-by shooting. Cynthia was released Wednesday. Cordaryle remains in Anoka County Jail under $2 million bail and has denied any involvement in the shooting.
