A Curry County homeowner’s quick thinking and real-time surveillance monitoring led to the arrest of a burglary suspect who attempted to flee and hide in nearby woods.

According to the Curry County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a burglary in progress around 3:34 p.m. on April 10 in the Gold Beach area. The homeowner, who was away at the time, noticed suspicious activity through their home security cameras and immediately contacted authorities.

Law enforcement officers, including personnel from Oregon State Police and a local Gold Beach police officer, arrived quickly at the scene. By the time they entered the residence, the suspect had already fled through the back door.

Deputies began searching the surrounding area, focusing on dense wooded terrain behind the property. Within minutes, Deputy Stanbery located the suspect hiding in thick vegetation. He, along with Deputy Starbird, apprehended the individual without incident.

The suspect, identified as Travis J. Minor, 30, was taken into custody and transported to the Curry County Jail. He now faces charges including burglary, theft, and criminal mischief.

Authorities credited the homeowner’s vigilance and the coordinated response between agencies for the swift resolution. The sheriff’s office also acknowledged the assistance of state and local law enforcement in ensuring the suspect was safely taken into custody.
