Las Vegas Police Rush to Valley Hotel After Apparent Murder-Suicide — Here's What We Know

A tragic incident unfolded Monday afternoon at an extended-stay hotel in central Las Vegas, leaving two men dead in what police believe may be a murder-suicide.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called around 3:41 p.m. to the 1500 block of Flamingo Road near Maryland Parkway after a 911 caller reported hearing a gunshot and discovering an injured man.

When police arrived, they found a man in his 30s unresponsive. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

As officers began investigating, a witness told them they had seen an elderly man leaving the area shortly after the first gunshot and entering a nearby room. Moments later, another gunshot was heard.

Police entered the room and discovered a man in his 80s suffering from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Medical personnel responded, but he was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities later confirmed that the younger man worked at the hotel and had only recently started his job. The older man was identified as a resident staying at the property.

The motive behind the incident remains unclear, and investigators have not released additional details about what may have led to the shooting.

Police continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the case as they work to piece together what happened in the moments leading up to the deadly encounter.
