LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Louisville man is facing multiple felony charges after police say he robbed a DoorDash delivery driver at gunpoint while she was delivering pizza in the Okolona area late Thursday night.
According to Louisville Metro Police, the incident happened on Turnpike View Drive as the delivery driver was dropping off an order valued at approximately $126. Investigators said the suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Jorien Thomas, approached the driver, displayed a firearm, and demanded the food.
Police said Thomas fled the scene with the pizza, leaving the driver unharmed but shaken by the encounter. Officers responded to the area and began searching nearby apartment complexes shortly after the robbery was reported.
During the search, officers located Thomas sitting in the backseat of a vehicle at a nearby apartment complex. He was taken into custody without incident, police said.
Investigators stated that Thomas admitted to robbing the DoorDash driver. According to police, he told officers he committed the robbery because he “had to do what he had to do to eat.” A firearm was also recovered during the investigation.
Thomas has been charged with robbery and tampering with physical evidence. Jail records show he was booked into custody following his arrest. Details regarding bond and a court appearance have not yet been released.
Police have not indicated whether additional charges could be filed or if anyone else was involved in the incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
Authorities continue to remind delivery drivers to remain alert, especially during nighttime deliveries, and to report any suspicious activity immediately to law enforcement.
