New York Woman Accused of Arson After Allegedly Threatening to Burn Home During Heated Dispute

A 59-year-old woman from Seaford, New York is facing serious charges after police say a domestic argument escalated into a dangerous situation involving fire.

According to the Nassau County Police Department, officers responded to a home on Neptune Avenue around 8:14 p.m. Friday following reports of a disturbance. Authorities allege that Lisa Decaprio got into a heated verbal argument with a 63-year-old man who lived in the same residence.

Police said the situation intensified when Decaprio allegedly began throwing objects during the dispute. At one point, she is accused of setting a pillow on fire and threatening to “burn the house down.” The exact cause of the argument and the relationship between the two individuals were not disclosed.

By the time first responders arrived, the fire had already been extinguished. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Decaprio was taken into custody without incident and later transported to a hospital for evaluation before being placed in jail. She has been charged with arson and harassment.

During her arraignment at the Nassau County District Court, she pleaded not guilty. Bail was set at $10,000 cash, $20,000 secured bond, or $50,000 partially secured bond.

She is scheduled to return to court on April 14 as the case moves forward.
