A suspected serial bank robber accused of targeting multiple North Bay cities is now behind bars after a coordinated law enforcement operation that spanned several jurisdictions.
Authorities confirmed that a man believed to be responsible for a string of bank robberies across Rohnert Park, San Rafael, Novato, and San Anselmo was arrested Thursday in American Canyon.
Suspect Identified Through High-Tech Investigation
Investigators determined that Allen Arturo Sanchez Olivares, a resident of American Canyon, was allegedly connected to all four robberies. Law enforcement agencies collaborated closely, pooling intelligence and resources to track down the suspect.
A key breakthrough in the investigation came from automated license plate reader (ALPR) cameras, which linked a vehicle associated with Sanchez Olivares to the crime scenes. Authorities reported that the vehicle was detected in the vicinity during the time each robbery occurred — strengthening the case against him.
Coordinated Arrest in American Canyon
The arrest was executed on Fran Lemos Lane, east of Eucalyptus Drive in American Canyon, in a carefully planned operation led by the Napa County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team.
Multiple agencies were involved in serving the warrant, including:
- Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety
- Novato Police Department
- San Rafael Police Department
- Central Marin Police Authority
- Napa County Sheriff’s Office
The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Facing Multiple Bank Robbery Charges
Following his arrest, Sanchez Olivares was transported to Rohnert Park and later booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility. He now faces four counts of bank robbery.
Authorities emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing. Law enforcement officials are encouraging anyone with additional information related to the case to come forward.
This arrest marks a significant step in addressing a series of crimes that had raised concerns across multiple North Bay communities. With coordinated policing efforts and the use of modern surveillance technology, investigators were able to swiftly connect the dots and bring the suspect into custody.
More updates are expected as the investigation continues.
