Pennsylvania Man Charged With Murder After Girlfriend's 2-Year-Old Dies From Alleged Beating

A Philadelphia man is facing murder charges after a 2-year-old girl died following an alleged brutal beating inside a South Philadelphia home.

What Happened

Sean Hernandez, 21, is accused of fatally beating Key’Monnie Bean on Dec. 8, 2025, at his home on South Beechwood Street in Philadelphia. The child was taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she was pronounced dead.

What Prosecutors Say

A forensic pathologist testified that Key’Monnie showed signs of both suffocation and blunt force trauma to the head and torso. The child’s mother, Ka’Nijah Bean, told the court she witnessed the alleged abuse but said she was too afraid to intervene, claiming Hernandez had previously threatened her with a machete and a gun.

The Text Messages

After the incident, Hernandez allegedly sent texts to Bean asking her to protect him. Prosecutors presented those messages in court Thursday.

Others Charged

Two others in the home — Anthony Lowrie, 21, and Alycia McNeill, 20 — were charged with obstruction of justice for allegedly lying to police about the incident.

What’s Next

Hernandez faces charges including murder and child endangerment. He is scheduled to return to court on May 21.
