LYNWOOD, Calif. — A Lynwood woman was shoved and robbed of a cherished family necklace while gardening in her own front yard last month, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is now asking the public for help tracking down the suspect.
The victim, who identified herself only as Vicki, said she was tending to her garden on Agnes Avenue around 5:15 p.m. on April 27 when a stranger walked up and attacked her without warning.
“He pushed me, almost pushed me to the ground, snatched my necklace and took off running,” Vicki told. “The necklace has been in my family for over 15 years. It was personally made.”
After the robbery, the suspect fled north on Muriel Drive and climbed into a white SUV — believed to be a Buick Encore — and drove away.
A neighbor’s Ring camera, time-stamped shortly after the incident, captured footage showing a person walking up to a nearby home before turning around and heading back toward Vicki’s house.
Who Are Detectives Looking For?
Investigators described the suspect as a boy or young man between 16 and 18 years old, standing approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing around 160 pounds.
The lead detective at LASD’s Century Station told NBC Los Angeles that investigators are looking into similar robberies in the area, noting that the attacker typically wears a mask in other incidents — but did not in this case.
