'The Hate You Have for Your Ex': She Warned the World Online — Then He Walked Into Her Grocery Store and Shot Her Dead

Amanda Frias Rosas had publicly called out her ex-husband’s “vendetta” weeks before he allegedly hunted her and her new husband down at work — while a birthday cake sat in their shopping cart.

Amanda Frias Rosas had a message for anyone watching. Months before her death, the Las Vegas grocery store worker took to Facebook to warn about a man whose hatred, she said, had turned into something dangerous — her own ex-husband. What happened next shocked an entire community.

According to Las Vegas police, her ex-husband — identified as Estrada — walked calmly into the Smith’s grocery store where Amanda worked, and opened fire. She and her new husband, Victor Frias Rosas, were killed on the spot. A co-worker who witnessed the aftermath said the couple’s shopping cart told the most heartbreaking part of the story.

“You know what they had in the shopping cart when they got killed? They had a cake that said, ‘Happy birthday.'”— Arturo Salazar, co-worker at Smith’s

The couple had been preparing to celebrate their 12-year-old son’s birthday. Instead, a family celebration turned into a crime scene. Police confirmed the shooting stemmed from a custody dispute that had been escalating between Amanda and Estrada in the weeks prior.

The warning signs had been visible to anyone paying attention. In January 2025, Amanda posted on Facebook: “The hate you have for your ex should never be more than the love you have for your child. You’re just hurting your child by hurting your ex.” Months later, in September 2025, she shared a post about parents who use children as pawns, adding her own words: “And doesn’t use them as pawns that hurt them to fulfill your vendetta.”

Court records revealed that Estrada owed more than $2,800 in back child support as of November 2025, having been ordered to pay $342 a month. Despite having joint legal custody, their co-parenting relationship had been deteriorating. The couple had divorced in 2023, and Amanda had married Victor Frias Rosas in February 2025 — just months before the shooting.

“This is somebody who’s one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. He and his wife — they’re so down to earth. They helped everybody. I’ve always seen a smile on their face.”— Family friend, speaking about Victor and Amanda Frias Rosas

Police say Estrada showed no signs of panic or distress as he entered the store. Witnesses described him as eerily calm. He was arrested shortly after the shooting and now faces a serious set of charges.

Charges against Estrada

  • 2 counts of open murder
  • 8 counts of discharging a firearm
  • Burglary while in possession of a firearm or deadly weapon
  • Aggravated stalking with use of a deadly weapon

Estrada was due to appear in court. Investigators have not ruled out additional charges as the case develops. The Clark County district attorney’s office is expected to present evidence that the attack was premeditated, citing the history of documented disputes, unpaid child support, and Amanda’s own social media posts as key elements of the case.

For those who knew the couple, the grief is compounded by the cruelty of the timing. A birthday cake. A shopping cart. A child waiting at home. A future that never arrived.
