Zoo Miami Shuts Down Again After Second Threat, Plans Sunday Reopening With Heightened Security

Zoo Miami has announced it will reopen to visitors on Sunday with enhanced security measures after closing for the second consecutive day due to a bomb threat.

Zoo officials shared an update on social media confirming they are working closely with local law enforcement agencies. Visitors returning on Sunday can expect a visible increase in security presence throughout the park, including K-9 units and additional patrols. Management emphasized that the safety of guests, employees, and animals remains their highest priority.

The situation began Friday afternoon when the zoo received an anonymous phone call reporting a bomb threat. As a precaution, the park immediately closed to the public while authorities conducted a thorough sweep of the property. Deputies searched the area extensively and found no credible threat, but the zoo remained closed for the rest of the day.

The park reopened Saturday morning, only to be forced to close again after a second anonymous call was received. Officials confirmed that both incidents are being treated as swatting calls. Law enforcement responded quickly and conducted another precautionary search.

Authorities also noted that a similar threat had been reported in December, raising concerns about repeated false alarms targeting the popular South Florida attraction.

Zoo Miami management reassured the public that operations will resume Sunday under stricter security protocols. Guests are encouraged to remain patient and cooperative as additional safety measures are implemented.
