Milwaukee, Wisconsin — A deadly shooting on Milwaukee’s north side has left a 27-year-old man dead, as police continue searching for the person responsible.
According to the Milwaukee Police Department, the incident happened Thursday night near the intersection of 20th Street and Burleigh Street in the Franklin Heights neighborhood. Officers were called to the scene just before 9 p.m. after reports of gunfire.
When police arrived, they found the victim suffering from severe gunshot wounds. Despite the response, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity.
The area around a nearby gas station was quickly secured as investigators began collecting evidence and trying to understand what led up to the shooting. Crime scene tape remained in place for several hours while officers worked late into the night.
At this time, no suspects have been taken into custody, and officials have not confirmed a possible motive. The case remains under active investigation.
