3 Men Went Missing From the Same Pennsylvania Town — Only One Has Been Found Alive

A Pennsylvania family finally has answers — but not the ones they hoped for.

The York County Coroner’s Office confirmed on May 15 that human remains discovered in a wooded area near East Middle Street in Hanover belong to 39-year-old Mark Hicks, who had been missing since June 2024.

Found Nearly a Year Later

The remains were first discovered on April 16 in a wooded area near the 400 block of East Middle Street.

Dental records confirmed the identity. The coroner ruled his cause of death as asphyxiation, and the manner of death was listed as suicide.

The Night He Disappeared

Hicks was last seen leaving his brother’s home in Hanover at 5:00 a.m. on June 22, 2024.

Later that afternoon, he was spotted at a 7-Eleven in New Oxford, getting into a maroon truck with an ex-girlfriend.

He was wearing a camo shirt and black HEYDUDE shoes — and was never seen again.

Hicks had no car, no phone, and no money. He was known to travel the Hanover area on foot.

Not the Only One

Hicks’ case is part of a deeply troubling pattern in Hanover.

Two other men went missing around the same time:

  • Matthew Meredith, 41 — reported missing in early June 2024. His body was found on June 11 off North Blettner Avenue in Conewago Township.
  • Ben Garrett, 36 — reported missing May 21, 2024. He has still not been found, and his family says there are no solid leads.

Authorities have not announced any connection between the three cases.

The York County Coroner’s Office says no further information is available at this time.
