If you were hoping for a sunny Memorial Day weekend in the Philadelphia area, think again. A cool, damp pattern is moving in — and it’s sticking around for the long weekend.
Friday: Jeans Weather Is Back
Temperatures will stay in the low 60s Friday, well below normal for this time of year. Expect partly cloudy skies with spotty showers picking up later in the day, especially south of the city.
Saturday: Stay Inside
Saturday is the worst of it. Highs will barely reach the mid-50s, and rain is expected all day — getting heavier overnight into Sunday morning. Plan for a full indoor day.
Sunday & Monday: Slight Improvement
Some clearing is possible Sunday afternoon, with highs in the mid-60s. Memorial Day Monday brings the best conditions of the weekend — low 70s and mostly cloudy skies. Still, keep a backup plan handy for any outdoor activities.
The Silver Lining
The region has been dealing with a severe drought, and this weekend’s rainfall — expected to total 1 to 3 inches — is badly needed.
The good news? Temperatures climb back to the low-to-mid 80s by Wednesday, just in time for the workweek.
