A flood watch remains in effect until 10 p.m., as multiple rounds of rain are expected to move through the region. Forecasts indicate widespread rainfall totals between 1 to 3 inches, with some isolated areas potentially receiving up to 6 inches.
The first wave of showers and storms is expected to begin before sunrise and continue through the morning hours. This could make travel difficult during peak commute times and school drop-offs, with reduced visibility and water accumulation on roads.
After a brief lull around midday, another round of showers and thunderstorms is likely to develop during the afternoon and evening. With the ground already saturated from earlier rainfall, even moderate downpours could quickly lead to flooding, especially in low-lying and poorly drained urban areas.
The unsettled weather pattern will continue into Wednesday, with a lingering minor flood risk still in place. In addition to the rain, breezy conditions are expected to return, creating hazardous conditions along the coast. Beachgoers should be cautious due to a high risk of rip currents, while small craft advisories may impact boaters.
Temperatures are expected to remain steady, with afternoon highs around 80°F throughout the week and into the weekend. Relief is on the horizon, however, as drier air is expected to move in later in the week, bringing improved conditions for the days ahead.
