KINGSPORT, Tennessee — A restaurant that has fed Kingsport families for nearly four decades is closing its doors for the last time.
Giuseppe’s Italian Restaurant announced Thursday that June 12 will be its final day of service — and this time, the closure is permanent.
“This was not an easy decision for Mike and Ralph, but they’re ready for the next chapter of their lives and more time with family,” the restaurant shared in a post on social media.
A Decision That Was Not Made Lightly
This is not the first time Giuseppe’s has announced a closing.
In 2023, the owners shared plans to shut down, but the restaurant remained open after a potential buyer backed out of the deal.
That uncertainty left many in the community wondering what the future held.
Now, the owners want the community to know there will be no reversal this time.
“We understand we have shared this news before, but this time the decision is final,” the restaurant posted.
38 Years of Memories in Kingsport
Giuseppe’s first opened in 1987, making it one of the longest-running restaurants in the area.
For many Kingsport residents, the restaurant is tied to some of life’s most meaningful moments — first dates, family dinners, birthday celebrations, and Sunday meals after church.
That kind of history does not close quietly.
A Grateful Goodbye
Despite the bittersweet news, the owners made sure to close with gratitude.
“We are incredibly grateful for the love, support, and understanding from our community throughout the years,” the post read.
With just weeks left before the final service, locals who want to visit one last time will need to act soon.
June 12 is closer than it seems.
