An Iowa woman has been sentenced to prison after authorities said she delivered a pan of lasagna containing oxycodone to a pregnant woman in an alleged attempt to cause a miscarriage.
Amber Snow, 36, pleaded guilty Tuesday to multiple charges, including intent to deliver a controlled substance and attempt to intentionally terminate a pregnancy. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
According to investigators, the incident happened on December 28, 2025, in Winneshiek County. Authorities said Snow and 35-year-old Matthew Uthoff delivered the lasagna to a family, allegedly knowing it had been contaminated with oxycodone.
Officials said the intended target was a pregnant woman in the household. Investigators believe the food was given to the family with the intention of harming the unborn child.
During the investigation, authorities discovered that Snow shared custody of her child with members of the victim’s family. Investigators also stated that Snow’s child was reportedly present both when the lasagna was prepared and when it was delivered.
Testing later confirmed the presence of oxycodone in the food. The substance was identified after laboratory analysis conducted during the investigation.
Uthoff, who faces the same charges as Snow, has pleaded not guilty. His case is still pending.
The case has drawn attention due to the disturbing nature of the allegations and the involvement of a pregnant woman as the intended victim.
