KANSAS CITY, Missouri — A man reported missing from Independence last month has been found dead inside a Kansas City home, and investigators have now ruled his death a homicide.
Johnathon Brown, 45, was last seen on May 10. He was reported missing, and that investigation quickly led detectives to a residence in the 3500 block of Smart Avenue in Kansas City.
When officers arrived on May 23, they found Brown’s body inside the home.
Medical Examiner Rules Death a Homicide
The Jackson County Medical Examiner has since completed an examination and officially classified Brown’s death as a homicide.
That ruling has now turned what began as a missing persons case into a full homicide investigation.
Detectives Are Closing In on a Suspect
Kansas City police say the investigation is actively moving forward.
Detectives are making progress in identifying a person of interest, according to authorities. No arrest has been announced at this time.
