MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. — Two Metro Detroit men are facing multiple felony charges after prosecutors say they were involved in a wide-ranging work vehicle theft operation that targeted dozens of victims across three Michigan counties.
According to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office, a 27-year-old man from Detroit and a 27-year-old man from Harper Woods were arraigned this week in connection with a series of break-ins involving at least 17 work trucks and commercial vehicles across Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne counties.
Prosecutors allege the suspects targeted work vehicles parked in residential driveways and commercial parking lots, stealing tools, equipment, and other property at various times of the day. In one incident, authorities say a victim attempted to intervene as the suspects fled with stolen items, prompting one of the men to allegedly pull out a handgun and point it at the victim.
Both suspects now face serious charges, including armed robbery, conducting a criminal enterprise, and assault with a dangerous weapon, according to Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
Court records show the Detroit man was arraigned on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, while the Harper Woods man was arraigned on Monday, Feb. 2, 2026. The hearings were held before Magistrate Ryan Zemke at the 41B District Court in Clinton Township.
Zemke set significantly different bond amounts for the two defendants. The Detroit man was given a $50,000 cash or surety bond, while the Harper Woods man received a $500,000 cash or surety bond. Both defendants are required to wear GPS tether devices if they are released from custody.
Under Michigan law, armed robbery is punishable by life in prison or any term of years. Conducting a criminal enterprise carries a potential sentence of up to 20 years, while assault with a dangerous weapon is punishable by up to four years behind bars.
Both men are scheduled to return to court for a probable cause conference before 41B District Court Judge Sebastian Lucido at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 9.
In a statement, Prosecutor Lucido praised the multi-agency effort that led to the arrests, crediting coordinated investigative work across multiple jurisdictions.
“I want to commend the members of the Macomb Auto Theft Task Squad, the Clinton Township, St. Clair Shores, Roseville, and Warren Police Departments, the Macomb FBI Violent Crimes Taskforce, and the Troy Special Investigations Unit,” Lucido said. “Your coordinated efforts appear to have removed two alleged violent and brazen criminals from the streets and disrupted an alleged criminal enterprise.”
Authorities say the investigation remains active, and additional charges or related cases could follow as detectives continue reviewing evidence connected to the alleged theft spree.
Anyone who believes they may have been a victim of similar work vehicle thefts in the area is encouraged to contact their local police department.
