Alabama Basketball Player Suspended Following Marijuana Arrest in Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — A member of the University of Alabama men’s basketball team has been suspended after being arrested on drug-related charges earlier this week.

Authorities confirmed that 21-year-old guard Aden Holloway was taken into custody Monday morning after law enforcement officers executed a search at a residence on 30th Avenue East in Tuscaloosa. During the search, investigators reportedly recovered more than one pound of marijuana, along with drug paraphernalia and cash.

Holloway has been charged with first-degree possession of marijuana and failure to affix a tax stamp. He was later booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail and released on a $5,000 bond.

University officials stated that they are aware of the situation and are gathering additional information. The student-athlete has been removed from campus while the Office of Student Conduct carries out its investigation.

Head coach Nate Oats addressed the matter during a radio appearance, confirming that Holloway has been suspended from team activities pending the outcome of the university’s review.

“We’ve got standards in our program,” Oats said. “We hold our players accountable. This situation required immediate action. We’re disappointed, but we still care about him and want to support him through this process.”

Authorities have not shared further details at this time. The case remains under investigation, and additional updates may follow as more information becomes available.
